THITI WANNAMONTHAThe Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office is expected to set up a new subcommittee to seek ways to shorten to three months the public-private partnership (PPP) process for EEC infrastructure projects to begin construction. Mr Kanit said the government last year invoked Section 44 to pave the way for EEC projects to be fast-tracked. The government wants to fast-track PPP development of the airport's second terminal, increasing annual capacity to 15 million passengers from 3 million. After raising capacity to 15 million passengers in the first phase over five years, the second phase calls for servicing 30 million passengers in a decade. The final stage is to handle 60 million passengers in 20 years.
